Avery (Night Owl) and Bett (Dogfish) were totally unaware of each other until their fathers met on a business trip. The two men fell in love and decided their daughters should meet.
The relationship began when Avery and Bett learned about the plan to have them officially meet at a summer camp in Michigan called CIGI. Their fathers believe that this STEM based summer science camp would be the perfect place for the girls to "accidentally" become best friends. In fact, their fathers believed there will eventually be a wedding making the two girls sisters.
As they say "the best laid plans" don't always end as desired. It doesn't take long for Avery (afraid of deep water and countless other dangers) and Bett (animal lover and surfer) to be expelled from the camp. At the same time their fathers, on a motorcycle tour of China, find out they may not be meant for each other.
Self-discovery and plenty of hilarity follow as the girls do become best friends despite the craziness that surrounds them and their families. All of their adventures are detailed in emails and letters written by them and others.
Authors Holly Goldberg Sloan & Meg Wolitzer have teamed up to create a delightful tale. Using their own close friendship as inspiration, their characters and situations are quirky and sure to entertain readers from start to finish.
